A book review of the Knightly Virtues program.

Why is it important?

The development of virtuous character is critical to sound instruction. The knightly virtues of courage, humility, honesty, love, service, self-discipline, justice, and gratitude are those that every child must learn to value and express. For schools that need to persuade their boards of the value of character education, the first two sections of the book and the evidence in the fourth section may prove helpful. For schools ready to implement character education, the Knightly Virtues program is an excellent choice; the fourth section may serve as a training module.

Perspectives

Like all books, it has strengths and weaknesses, but its description of the Knightly Virtues program makes it a worthwhile purchase.
