What is it about?
Prolapse is a term used to describe the displacement of an organ from its normal anatomic position to outside the body. This can involve the uterus. This case in a cat describes the situations that could cause a uterus to prolapse and also some microscopic changes in the uterus walls that may have promoted the prolapse.

Why is it important?
Prolapsed uterus in cats should be biopsied during treatment to assess for potential predisposing factors for prolapse.
Perspectives
This is a condition well recognized in first opinion practice and readily treatable. Although I have treated uterine prolapse in cats in practice , I had not considered potential uterine wall lesions as a predisposing cause.
