What is it about?

We validated a simple alternative test for back extensor strength against the gold standard lab-based technique and found a very good relationship between them.

Why is it important?

The determination of back muscle strength has always required expensive technical equipment. Our findings simplify the process of testing back extensor strength making the test more accessible to clinicians and researchers without comprehensively equipped laboratories.

Perspectives

Research testing can be highly laborious. Any measurement technique that reduces the testing burden for both researchers and participants will enhance research feasibility and productivity. This BES test does that.
