What is it about?
Early resolution of S waves in DI and aVL leads are associated with 30-day surival in patients with intermediate-high and high risk PE patients.

Why is it important?
Early resolution of S waves in DI and aVL had similar predictive value for lung reperfusion as ST segment resolution in STEMI patients. It can be spontaneous, or the result of treatment with thrombolytic therapy, or mechanical reperfusion. These early ECG changes can serve to guide our therapy, and to tell as weather we succeed to achieve clinically significant lung reperfusion.
Perspectives
This is the first MS regarding the importance of monitoring early ECG changes in PE patients and further investigation of their usefulness for the therapy guidance is needed.
