What is it about?
Rehabilitation Specialized Medicine offers new developments in relation to the new technologies, new demography, life expectation and chronicity. The same attention that in modern health systems is given to quality process and outcome, should also concern the hospital structural aspects, in order to humanize these spaces.

Why is it important?
The environmental variables that have an impact on the users in a hospital setting (patients and staff) and on the organization principally concern the visual, acoustic and layout characteristics, especially in terms of: worker satisfaction, reduction of stress in patients, patient satisfaction and reduced falls in hospital.
Perspectives
Rehabilitation is now seen as taking care of the patient in a holistic sense, from the loss of physical function to the person’s psychological, social and professional needs – its concern is with their quality of life and not ‘only’ their illness. All of this makes it a stimulating and attractive field in which to plan.
