What is it about?
Europe never had an informed discussion about the deeply flawed nuclear deal with Iran (JCPOA). The US withdrawal from the agreement has intensified transatlantic tensions. It is important to overcome these disagreements, particularly those based on misinterpretations of the legal and political context of the American decision. Both the US and the EU need to cooperate to counter Iran's aggression in the region, Tehran’s sponsorship of terrorism, including on European soil, and the regime's human rights violations at home.

Why is it important?
Transatlantic relations are already hurt by other conflicts. In the interest of Western unity and security, it is important to remove misunderstandings about the Iranian nuclear deal and the reasons and context of US withdrawal in order to better cooperate on countering Iranian aggressions, which are a major threat to global security.
Perspectives
I hope this article can help present an important persperctive on the Iranian nuclear deal and Iran's threat to national security that is otherwise largely missing in the foreign policy debate in the EU. Only an evidence-based fgoreign policy is likely to enhance the security and well-being of Europe.
