Why is it important?
It is important to realize that people's words for and ideas about emotions have changed in the course of time. In other words, emotions are not just something that happen to us. We understand them through our language, which is not the same as, for example, five hundred years ago. Many people have studied this topic, and this paper is a summary of what they have written about.
Perspectives
I missed one important book: Ayumi Miura: Middle English Verbs of Emotion and Impersonal Constructions: Verb Meaning and Syntax in Diachrony. It was published by Oxford Scholarship Online in December 2014.
