Why is it important?
The ways in which candidates link their narratives up with commonly accepted history and with their personal backgrounds show their unique perspectives on history and/or on archetypal characters representative of historical values and narratives. The article also proposes a technique for transcribing multimodal texts useful for analysts of discourse.
Perspectives
History is commonly accepted as "fact" whereas political candidates use language and media to show their unique "takes" on it.
