What is it about?
This article looks at relevant and current literature around the subject of depth and awareness of anaesthesia. It see's it from a perspective of a theatre practitioner and their responsibilities during an anaesthetic and relating this to their code of conduct, ethics and performance.

Why is it important?
This was written off the back of the Royal College of Anaesthetists NAP 4 project. This brings relevance to the practice of any anaesthetic theatre staff as well as the safety of the patient in their care.
Perspectives
Throughout my time working in theatre, i have seen many anaesthetics taken place. I feel this as a privilege as a health care worker. The area in question was highlighted to me via the NAP4 project and inspired me to look at ways of monitoring and assessing depth of anaesthesia. This brought me around to looking at my responsibilities as a registered practitioner. An informal piece which is based at the anaesthetic assistant in increasing their knowledge and diversifying and deepening experiences
