What is it about?

To prove the accuracy of 1D model of hydronic floor heating, the outcomes of such model were performed in a thermostatic booth simulator which reflects the experimental test. It is the first time that a validation procedure of a 1D hydronic floor heating model encompasses the floor heating model and the room in which is located (thermostatic booth).

Why is it important?

This work is important because it uses an innovative approach for validate the model outcomes. External, local differential sensitivity analysis were performed on the model outcomes in terms of average flloor surface temperature and heat flux release upwards. This works find that 1D hydronic floor heating model provides robust and reliable predictions exclusively for the heat released upwards when the serpentine tube spacing is 0.30 m.

Perspectives

Such work can be seen as an important advancement in how the validation procedure of heater technologies should be done for understanding the reliability and robustness of their predictions.
