What is it about?

Some say that water can make it through an asphalt roof making attics, and especially sealed attics, dangerously humid and causing potential moisture damage of sheathing. We studied the issue and conclude that not only is it unlikely that this phenomenon occurs, but even if it did it would have little affect on the moisture content of the sheathing in a sealed attic.

Why is it important?

As homes become more airtight, it is more important to understand how moisture affects buildings and living spaces, since now there is not as much air movement to dry wet walls and roofs as before. This research adds to this body of knowledge.
