What is it about?
Drawing on empirical evidence, this paper outlines the challenges of using bar and club spaces to raise awareness of sexual offences. It considers the use of licensed spaces for having fun, disengaging from the anxieties of the day and the sexual inequality they often embody. All of which, we argue, undermines the impact of rape prevention work.

Why is it important?
The question of whether night-time venues are useful spaces for rape prevention work, has largely been ignored. This article fills that gap, drawing on qualitative discussions with young men about a rape campaign directed at males specifically. This article again marks a departure in the literature, where rape prevention narratives have typically been focused at women.
