Surviving a crisis such as a school shooting is problematic for any school. Hearing the lessons learned from school leaders who have experienced such a tragedy offers valuable insight not typically taught in the classroom. The case presented offers real-life experiences and recommendations.

The case presented highlights the challenges that school leaders may face such as making quick decisions, managing volunteers, and assisting faculty, staff, students, and parents in returning to a level of normalcy.

Perspectives

This article is dedicated to all of the innocent loss of those who died as a result of gun violence as well as those whose lives have been tragically impacted by such horrors. I am praying that our society improves and becomes a safe place that embraces all of humanity.
