What is it about?
We found that Simball Box is a useful laparoscopic simulator that delivers metrics on performance while you use your ordinary laparoscopic equipment during training. It combines the best of two worlds; sense of touch just like in the old school video box and delivers metrics like in modern Virtual Reality simulators.

Why is it important?
The simulator can visualise ones progress of performance with numbers (metrics) and also record a performance for later viewing together with instructor, functions that old video boxes lack. It's realistic since you use the same instruments while practicing as in the OR, and it gives a functional correspondence between training and the actual task you will do in the OR (e.g suturing). We consider it a useful tool for laparoscopic training.
