Why is it important?
As an original contribution to the understanding of clinical pastoral education this article offers insight into the experience, perception of, and work of one chaplain resident in a public healthcare setting.
Perspectives
I've always been conscious of the way in which CPE has impacted myself, but I've not had the opportunity to give voice to what CPE felt like. Being able to integrate emotional, spiritual, and intellect are important to me in better understanding myself, and those whom I am called to serve. Since childhood I had been fascinated with the human condition given my own background, and now I am able to give voice to what I thought, felt, and sensed during a second year of specialized training.
