What is it about?

This personal reflection piece is a letter written to my then 8 month old grandson upon the occasion of his baptism. It emphasizes the importance of doing love, of needing to know we are a little less afraid when we journey through life in the company of others who care about us and that we sometimes look to Jesus and He's not there. What do we do then?

Why is it important?

I feel this is important because it focuses on the difficulty of doing the gospel. Telling a young child to trust Jesus is often superficial. Doing the gospel, i. e. Love your neighbor. Is the substance of Christianity and reflects how difficult and baffling a life of faith can be.

Perspectives

I was privileged to be invited by the Rector Of St. Johns Episcopal Church to baptize my grandson and make a few remarks. I decided to put those remarks in the form of a letter that he can read and reread as he grows.
