What is it about?

The study shows how women perceive the use of contraceptive methods, benefits, barriers, social support and even discrimination and in some cases institutional violence by requesting some type of method, all this influences that the use is inconsistent. El estudio muestra cómo las mujeres perciben el uso de los métodos anticonceptivos, los beneficios, las barreras, el apoyo social e incluso la discriminación y en algunas ocasiones violencia institucional por solicitar algún tipo de método, todo esto influye en que el uso sea inconsistente.

Why is it important?

The findings of this study allow us to enter new perspectives of thinking that influence behavior. Although there have been studies on contraceptive methods unplanned pregnancies, abortions at risk and premature deaths, as well as maternal and fetal consequences, it should be deepened in the knowledge of the phenomenon. The use of qualitative methodology is important to determine the most personal aspects that women perceive that leads them to stop using contraceptives even though they know and know the risks of having an active sexual life without protection. Los hallazgos de este estudio permiten introducirse en nuevas perspectivas de pensamiento que influyen en la conducta. A pesar de que se han hecho estudios respecto a los métodos anticonceptivos los embarazos no planeados, los abortos en condiciones de riesgo y las muertes prematuras, así como las consecuencias materno fetales, se debe de profundizar en el conocimiento del fenómeno. El uso de la metodología cualitativa es importante para determinar los aspectos más personales que las mujeres perciben que las lleva a dejar de usar los métodos anticonceptivos a pesar de que saben y conocen los riesgos de tener una vida sexual activa sin protección.
