What is it about?
Vehicles and equipment used on farm may serve as fomites in spreading animal diseases among premises during outbreaks, and vehicles and equipment decontamination is critical for disease control. Such decontamination is a multi-step technical process and information on the impact of each step on the effectiveness of the process is limited especially under cold weather conditions. We evaluated various steps for cleaning and disinfection of contaminated vehicles and equipment under farm settings. Our evaluation showed that thorough removal organic matter is important to enhance disinfection and elimination of disease agents.
