What is it about?

The literature on person-centered communication has focused primarily on improving staff communication and examined the impact of enhanced communication on negative resident reactions, such as resistiveness to care. The current study contributes to this important area of research by demonstrating the impact of person-centered communication on positive resident reactions.

This study offers tangible examples of person-centered communication. More importantly, the positive resident reactions provide evidence to staff that person-centered communication is indeed helpful, while the negative resident reactions show that the lack of person-centered communication results in distressing care encounters.
