We explore whether individual political and social identity influences our beliefs about what causes obesity and whether those causal beliefs subsequently related influence policy preferences.

Why is it important?

Our attributions for obesity are shaped by out political and social identities, which politicizes the issue. In addition, those attributions influence our policy preferences, which makes it difficult to find consensus on initiatives to reduce obesity in society.
