What is it about?

More and more patients are likely to require both TEVAR and TAVR procedures in the future. The case report commented upon illustrated emergent use of TAVR to relieve acute hemodynamically significant aortic regurgitation caused by tethering of a valve leaflet by a misplaced endograft that was deployed with the intention of lining the ascending aorta to prevent retrograde type-A dissection (RTAD). The commentary discusses the causative factors of RTAD, its prevention and the problem of embolic stroke that often complicates TEVAR.
