What is it about?
This article describes one community based organization's effort to present a sexual health program to young people in a way that makes sense to them. This was accomplished by taking into consideration how young people learn and what interests them. It also describes how instructors can better relate to youth in delivering a highly structured program manual without compromising the main message of the curriculum.

Why is it important?
Evidence based programs are considered very valuable in influencing behavior change. Often we do not have a clear understanding of how community based programs practically apply an evidence based intervention to the communities that they serve. This article delves into some of the critical decisions and challenges that are encountered in this quest.
Perspectives
This article provides practical suggestions that can be used by program implementers who are considering replicating an evidence-based program in their communities. It also points out some challenges of replicating manualized evidence based curricula. Implementers have an opportunity to overcome or avoid some of the challenges discussed in this paper and are also invited to extend this work by contributing their experience and knowledge to the growing field of implementation science.
