What is it about?

Considerable CVD risk reduction with decrease in HbA1c, blood pressure and blood lipids in type 2 diabetes during 7 years of follow-up

Why is it important?

Decrease in CVD risk has previously been difficult to demonstrate for HbA1c in randomised trials, now showed here, and also showed of considerable degree with combined decreases for HbA1c, blood pressure and blood lipids.

Perspectives

Large observational studies of patients in daily clinical practice demonstrating CVD risk decrease with lowering of cardiovascular risk factors are of importance as complement to randomised trials.
