What is it about?

For numerous tasks to be solved in the every-day lighting practice, luminous intensity distribution curves (LIDs) enable an evaluation of the spatial radiation characteristic of a light source. The present paper describes the approach just as some possible methods and rules for comparing LIDs. Here, the focus is on the development of calculation rules for quantifying the differences between two LIDs. In addition, various variants of the visualisation of the differences between two LIDs are demonstrated.

Why is it important?

The present article describes the approach as well as some possible ways and rules for carrying out a comparison of LIDs. Here, special emphasis is placed on the development of new calculation instructions for quantifying the differences between two LIDs. In addition, some new variants for visualising the differences between two LIDs are illustrated.
