What is it about?

Digital storytelling is a technology application that has emerged as a powerful teaching and learning tool that engages both teachers and students (McGee, 2014). Digital storytelling allows students to become creative storytellers through selecting a topic, conducting research, writing a script, and developing the story. Students in a social psychology course completed a digital storytelling assignment about a classic experiment in the field. The results demonstrated that students’ knowledge about their classic experiment and the classic experiments of their classmates increased significantly. The evaluation survey showed that the students believed that the assignment was enjoyable, an interesting learning experience, hard work, and fun.

Why is it important?

The digital storytelling literature is vast, but largely absent from the field of psychology.

Perspectives

Good pedagogy is very important too me as a Professor at a teaching institution. Digital storytelling is backed by empirical evidence and enjoyed by students. It is a win all the way around.
