What is it about?

This article revisits previous literature about dog meat consumption in Korea in light of ethnographic research I conducted in Korea between 2012 and 2013.

Why is it important?

It provides a lot of nuances to the practice of dog meat consumption in Korea and challenges preconceived ideas such as the presumed division dogs Koreans eat and dogs Koreans don't eat, which hardly holds in practice.

Perspectives

It gives a voice to Korean stakeholders and reduces stereotypes.
