Why is it important?
We show that the total entrepreneurial activity does not influence the national innovative capacity. Furthermore, the role of opportunity or innovation-driven entrepreneurs in enhancing the national innovative capacity cannot be documented.
Perspectives
The role of the entrepreneurs in enhancing the innovative performance can be higher in the high value-added sectors. Consequently, the research should be developed in this direction.
