What is it about?

The article focuses on the level of the individual, the citizens, and hones in the microfoundations for norm acceptance by relying on social identity theory. Drawing on public opinion surveys and utilizing multilevel models, our main finding is that membership duration in the EU is associated with citizens’ adherence to EU liberal democratic values. As such, the longer a country has been a member of the EU, the stronger its citizens support the EU values.
