What is it about?

In the digital age, there are new conceptions of what it means to be a "good citizen." This paper uses memes created around the Kony2012 campaign as a negotiation between different ideas of what it means to be a good citizen. Most memes reflect the ideal of the "informed citizen" as the ultimate good citizen.

Why is it important?

We are at a time in which ideas about what it means to be a good citizen are changing and being negotiated. This paper exemplifies this negotiation, and shows that there isn't yet a new agreement on what the good citizen of the digital age looks like.
