What is it about?

We explored the effect of user characteristics (personality, health state, stress/recovery state, leadership ehavior) on the interest and likelihood of using an app for workplace health promotion activities. The data of 412 leaders were collected in an online study. The findings showed that neuroticism, physical health and health-promoting leadership were important predictors for using an app for monitoring personal health and getting in social contact about health issues.

Why is it important?

Unhealthier users might benefit from e-health and m-health applications as this is a more comfortable way to monitor and share health problems. e-health and m-health applications should be implemented in workplace health promotion projects to reach the important target group of unhealthier employees - which are the ones that would mostly benefit from workplace health promotion activities.
