What is it about?
An intervention study that focuses on the instruction of articles (the and a) to be used for generic reference. We examine if there is any progress in second language learners' article choice after 9 weeks of instruction.

Why is it important?
Though previous studies have looked at article choice, no study to date has attempted to instruct second language learners on the complexity of generics.
Perspectives
We hope this paper gives readers some insight into genericity and how it relates to article choices in English. If you are a second language learner of English, you may identify with some of the difficulties our participants faced in our study.
