Why is it important?

While we often think about universities as offering economic advantages through the job market, this research shows that they also provide opportunities via marital markets. People who attend university are already advantaged and partnering with a classmate only consolidates those advantages. In this way, universities play an important role in the social reproduction of inequality.

Perspectives

I hand coded the variable for "name of university" from decades of paper survey data collected by the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID). in order to undertake this project.
