What is it about?

This novel finding suggests that longer duration of body dissatisfaction is associated with increased CRP and TNF- level and decreased adiponectin levels, respectively, with all these associations manifesting a pro-inflammatory state. Taken together, the findings from this study provide important information that body dissatisfaction may be a psychological marker of a higher metabolic risk independently of most traditional risk factors such a gender, BMI and intra-abdominal adiposity. Body dissatisfaction and related constructs must be considered as important as generally accepted relevant health-related factors and lifestyle behaviours and may have an important impact on physical health.
