What is it about?

The Meaning of the Child Interview is a new procedure that assesses parent-child relationships via a semi structured interview with the parent. It I should one of the few procedures that differentiates between different kinds of at risk relationships in ways that can help clinicians intervene in them more sensitively and effectively. This paper presents the theoretical basis of the MotC and illustrates with 2 case studies.

The MotC was developed in work with struggling and at risk families and with the needs and requirements of clinicians working in this field in mind. The paper explains of understanding parental discourse using the MotC can illuminate the relationships of at risk families in ways that offer much to practitioners.
