What is it about?

Many studies have looked into interational governance of climate mitigation, in terms of rules, goals and commitments adopted by national governments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. In this paper, we consider the 'other leg' of climate change governance; how to adapt to a changing climate. Is climate adaptation solely an issue for local and national governments to manage? Or do states cooperate and try to regulate each other in terms of what and how much adaptation is being done?

Why is it important?

It is important to map out what governance tools and iniatives are in place, in order to then evaluate if they are indeed effective and responsive to people's needs. It is also important to understand the motives and interests lying behind certain governance initiatives.
