What is it about?

inflammation in spinal cord is a rare event that can yield heavy disability in the affected patients (some of whom develop multiple sclerosis). Factors such as older age at onset, involvement of peripheral nerves, and the extension of the inflammatory lesions in the spinal cord (detected with magnetic resonance imaging) predict thw worst outcome and future disability.
