What is it about?
Al–Zn-based alloys were designed and produced in order to overcome dimensional instability and low ductility problems encountered with the zinc-based bearing alloys. The purpose of this work was to investigate the lubricated friction and wear behaviour of Al–25Zn–3Cu–3Si alloy in both as-cast and heat-treated conditions and compare the results with those of 60/40 brass (Cu–40Zn) and SAE 65 bearing bronze.

Why is it important?
Developed alloy is alternative bearing alloy especially on radial hydrodynamic bearings with low density and cost.
