What is it about?

Through an engagement with affect theory, this paper draws attention to the increasingly subtle and confusing ways in which the gendered organization works its way into our everyday lives; e.g., while more women than ever are reaching the top echelons of business and politics, gendered pay gaps remain widespread and large parts of the service economy thrive on formal and informal dress codes which sexualize women employees. The paper articulates and affective politics of 'becoming-woman' to challenge and subvert the oppression that is effected through contemporary forms of gendered organization.
