What is it about?

A group of beginning band students met and engaged with group improvisation activities with me over eight weeks. I documented what they learned through improvisation both individually and as a group.

Why is it important?

Many times, improvisation is saved for more advanced students and/or students interested in jazz. However, instead of learning to improvise, this article shows that students can learn through improvisation and improvise to learn.
