Why is it important?

The results show that of those who responded to the survey (about 25% of those surveyed), most used texting in their work at least once a day and my more frequently.

Perspectives

There is great ambivalence in our jurisdiction about using texting (including image sharing) for clinical work. We interpret our results to show that texting is frequently used in precisely this way by doctors-in-training despite official ambivalence. We use our results (and we are sure there will be more) to argue that the way forward is to make this form of communication secure rather than to prohibit it. We believe texting is used by doctors because it is effective and efficient.
