What is it about?

This report refers to a bioinformatic approach dedicated to the search of protein targets specific to a parasite (L. major) given its host (H. sapiens) in the enzyme space. The selection process is based on enzymatic commission numbers (EC) and show the care that must be given to avoid as much as possible interferences from false positives.

Why is it important?

The search of specific targets is an important activity of drug development and L. major is an important parasite in developing countries. L. major has been recognized to evolve resistance to clinically used drugs, which justify a continuous development.

Perspectives

The targets proposed in this report still need to be confirmed by bench experimentation.
