What is it about?
Rhizobium radiobacter species are aerobic, motile, oxidase-positive, and non-spore-forming gram-negative bacilli. They have been associated with systemic diseases, peritonitis, urinary tract infection and infection of indwelling intravascular devices in immune compromised patients.

Why is it important?
We isolated Rhizobium on hemodialysis patient with Catheter related bloodstream infections (CRBSI). Catheter salvage was possible due to early diagnosis and therapy (ceftazidime and levofloxacine).
Perspectives
Rhizobium radiobacter should be included in the list of pathogens that can cause CRBSI in hemodialysis patients. According to our experience, when an early diagnosis is made, catheter removal is not mandatory.
