What is it about?
Youth independence and political opinions theory is proposed as an explanation for how Israeli students develop voting preferences. We examine how socializing and drug use motivate political identification.

Why is it important?
The results provide an understanding for why radicalization occurs at a young age. The study contends that ideology is a result of social pressure, and this could help political researchers determine voting constituencies in the future based on social demographics.
Perspectives
An opportunity to conduct this research in other countries would better allow us to determine whether there are universal determinants of youth political opinions.
