Diagnostic utility of renal fine-needle aspirate cytology and ultrasound in the cat

What is it about?

We evaluated the clinical usefulness of cytologic analysis of renal fine needle aspirates and renal ultrasound in the cat. We looked at how often a diagnostic sample was obtained, what cytologic diagnoses were made, what cytologic appearances samples had, what the kidneys looked like on ultrasound, what appearances on ultrasound were seen with what cytologic diagnoses, and how cytologic diagnoses compared to histologic ones when available.
