The burgeoining of right radical parties across Europe, their ascendance to power in various countries of the European Union constitutes the most serious threat to liberal democracy in Europe since the end of the war. Moreover it is the reflection of a deep crisis which the process of European integration undergoes. The article provdes data about the electoral power of these parties, tries to assess its political impact. It deals with particular cases and tries to link the current debate with the expirience of the risie of fascist parties and movements in the interwar period.
