This article examines the research of resilience training in military personnel, and discusses the potential applicability of resilience training in this population to reduce mental health issues that result from exposure to traumatic events.

Why is it important?
As a result of the higher exposure rates among military personnel to trauma mental health professionals are exploring ways that resilience training can protect service members (SMs) against the sequelae of mental health issues arising after traumatic events. Awareness of the factors that constitute resilience will aid mental health providers at all levels, especially those who work with SMs and veterans, in the treatment of their clients.
