The article describes the experience and lessons learned from teaching research ethics and qualitative methods to sociology students in Germany.

Why is it important?

The article shows that ethical reflexivity is an integral part of qualitative research and research training. It also discusses some of the problems and questions raised by the students - thus helping teachers to better understand the learning experience of their students.

Perspectives

I learned a lot from writing this paper - and from the feedback of my students and colleagues, and I hope the readers will find it inspiring, too.
