What is it about?
Composites are increasingly used in various industrial applications owing to their high strength to weight ratio and ease of manufacturing. It is very important to study the damping characteristics of the composites. In the current research, wavelet analysis is used to evaluate the damping parameters of the composites. A detailed mathematical model is provided for easy understanding and further experiments are conducted to verify the authenticity of the proposed wavelet method.

Why is it important?
Detailed mathematical model is provided for easy understanding and accurate estimation of damping parameters of the composites such as damping ratio and natural frequency. Moreover, a comparison is made on the damping property of glass fibre reinforced epoxy, glass fibre reinforced polyester and carbon black filled epoxy composites.
Perspectives
The article is written to provide an easy way to evaluate damping characteristics of composites. The proposed wavelet transform can be used for accurate estimation of damping parameters of various engineering structures and automotive, aircraft and machine tool components etc.
