Derivation, Replication, and Validity Analyses of a Screener for the Behavioral Assessment of Executive Functions in Young Adults

What is it about?

In this paper, we provide evidence for an executive functions screener that is part of the College version of the Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC-2).

Why is it important?

Our paper is timely because it is part of the body of research that relates to and supports the new executive functioning index, now part of the recently released BASC-3. Methodologically, this paper stands out for two reasons: (1) We present original findings AND a successful replication in a second independent sample. This is particularly important given widespread discussion in the research community about the"replication crisis." (2) Our paper shows how structural equation modeling can be used to better investigate convergent validity and is an improvement over the antiquated simple correlation technique used in nearly all convergent validity analyses.
