What is it about?

Children need the security of healthy boundaries and the freedom to play as they wrestle through their difficulties and learn self-control. We conclude the article with a case study to flesh out treatment related to issues involved in the combination attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, family problems, and educational difficulties. We blend a family approach with an individual approach and include the use of play therapy.

Why is it important?

This article should help you in your own decision making as you consider how to help children who fit the description in the title. If you work with kids, you've probably seen your fair share of attention problems and defiance combined with family and school problems. If you believe in helping children find healing through play, all the better.

Perspectives

I wish I'd had this article as a reference when I was just getting started working with kids. I hope it helps you in your own efforts to help children and families.
